Nail Salon in Newark, NJ
Lush Atelier is a nail salon in Newark, NJ, at 59 Wilson Avenue in the Ironbound. Cíntia has been doing nails on Wilson Avenue long enough that a fair number of her clients started coming before Lush Atelier had its name. The nail room is hers and Helena's: manicure, pedicure, gel, acrylic, acrygel, porcelain, and nail extensions in whatever shape and length you have saved on your phone.
Everything is by appointment, six days a week, and every instrument and surface is cleaned, disinfected and sanitized between services. In a city with a nail salon on most blocks, that is the part we would rather be known for.

Manicure and pedicure
A classic manicure here is shaping, cuticle care, a buff, a hand massage and polish — done at a pace that lets the polish actually cure before you put your coat on. If your nails are peeling or splitting, say so at the start; the file direction and the base coat change completely for weak nails, and it costs nothing but attention.
Pedicures run the same way, with a proper soak, heel and callus work, nail and cuticle shaping, a leg and foot massage, and your choice of regular or gel polish. Ingrown corners and thickened toenails are common and we will work with them, but anything that looks like an infection or a fungal nail goes to a podiatrist first — we will tell you rather than paint over it.
Gel polish is available on both, and lasts two to three weeks on hands and rather longer on toes. If you want the shortest possible appointment, book the manicure and pedicure together and you will be out in about ninety minutes.

Gel and acrylic
Gel polish is colour that cures under a lamp and stays glossy for two to three weeks on your own natural nail. Builder gel adds a thin layer of strength on top of that, which is what you want if your nails bend and break at the free edge but you do not want length. Acrylic, acrygel and porcelain are structural — they build a nail where there is not enough of one, and they hold a shape that gel alone cannot.
Which one is right depends on your nail plate and your week. Acrylic is the toughest and the most forgiving of hard hands; acrygel is lighter and kinder to a thin natural nail; porcelain sets the hardest and files to the crispest edge. We will look at your hands and say which one we would put on our own.
Removal is where nails are usually ruined, so we do it properly: soaked off or filed back carefully, never levered or peeled. Come back for a fill every two to three weeks rather than letting a set grow out an inch — a lifted nail with a gap underneath is where the trouble starts.

Nail extensions
Extensions are built on a tip or sculpted on a form, in almond, coffin, square, squoval, stiletto or the round short set that most people actually keep. Length is a conversation about your job and your hands rather than a number — if you type all day or lift a toddler, the set that looks best in a photo is not the set you will still like on Thursday.
The finish is the fun part: French tips in classic white or a soft satin, chrome and glazed-donut effects, ombré and baby boomer fades, velvet shimmer, foil and marble, and hand-painted art done freehand rather than with a sticker. Bring the screenshot. We will tell you honestly how long it will take and whether it will survive on the length you have chosen.
Plan on a fill every two to three weeks and a full rebalance every couple of months. Oil the cuticles daily, wear gloves for cleaning, and treat them as jewellery rather than tools — nobody has ever regretted opening a can with a spoon.
